0% Tax Hike in Sioux Lookout

Sioux Lookout Council has approved the 2009 Municipal Budget and nothing will change for taxpayers.
A zero percent tax increase has been accepted.
CAO Merlin Dewing says Council accepted a $20-million operating budget and a $13-million capital budget.
Dewing says they are only collecting $6.4-million from taxpayers.
He says they were able to avoid a tax hike by cutting back on expenses and capital work as well as dipping into reserves.
However, Dewing stresses Council is keeping an eye on increased costs, especially policing.
