10 digit dialling will be mandatory for all phone starting next week.
Starting on May 31st, local calls using seven digits will be interrupted by a message asking the caller to hang up and redial using 10 digits.
That’s for all local calls using the 807 area code in northern Ontario.
TBaytel says it’s in the process of upgrading it’s landlines and it’s voice network to support the change.
Residents and businesses will need to add the area code to any phone number that it’s programmed into the phone.
