Fatal house fire in Sandy Lake First Nation

An investigation into a fatal house fire in Sandy Lake First Nations.

The Ninshawbe Aski Police Service says someone walked into their detachment on Tuesday afternoon reporting about a home on fire near the community’s Northern Store.

When officers arrived on scene, the home was engulfed in flames.

Community firefighters helped to put the fire out.

Two people managed to get out of the home and were taken to the community nursing station for their injuries.

A third person was missing.

Human remains were found at the scene Wednesday, but they have not yet been identified.
