A plea to politicians and voters about food insecurities in Canada.
Twelve Canadian food bank associations have written a letter calling for change, and asking that food insecurity in Canada be reduced by 50 per cent by 2030.
The associations are also calling on the federal political parties to include steps in their platforms to demonstrate how they will achieve this.
In the letter, they say almost a quarter of Canadians live with food insecurity.
Over two million people visited food banks this month.
In the past year, nearly 30 per cent of food banks ran out of food before the demand was met and another 56 per cent gave less to avoid running out.
