Alberta MP gives up seat for Poilievre to run in by-election

A Conservative MP-elect in Alberta is giving up his seat to Pierre Poilievre.

Damien Kurek was elected in the Battle River-Crowfoot riding in Monday’s federal election.

He announced he’s resigning to allow the Conservative leader to run in a by-election.

Poilievre lost his Ottawa-area riding, and the Liberals won the election again with another minority.

In a statement, Kurek says the party needs Poilievre fighting in the House of Commons, and it’s what’s best for Canada.

He says he’ll run again in the riding of Battle River-Crowfoot in the next general election.
