SIU clears officer in Pikangikum injury

The Ontario Special Investigations Unit has cleared an OPP officer of any wrongdoing after a man suffered a broke collar bone in Pikangikum.

The SIU says the OPP were called to a home on February 19th, and a suspect was arrested for being at the residence of his girlfriend, violating a term of his release.

The 22 year old man tried to flee, but was tackled by a police officer.

He was taken to hospital, where he was diagnosed with the injury.

The SIU say the officer took appropriate actions to prevent his escape.
