15 Cases Of COVID-19 In Indigenous Communities

The COVID-19 pandemic won’t prevent Ottawa from assisting First Nations, Metis, and Inuit communities.

Minister of Indigenous Services Marc Miller stresses they want to make sure no one is left behind.

Miller says they are working with regional health and provincial partners to ensure the needs of communities and the most vulnerable are met during this difficult time.

He notes they have sent out “significant personal protection supplies” over the past week and they continue to respond to asks with urgency.

Miller adds they are in the process of transferring $305 million directly to First Nations communities.

He stresses First Nations leadership have shown incredible strength so far throughout the health crisis.

The latest information shows a total of 15 confirmed cases in Indigenous communities across the country but it’s not known exactly where those cases are from.
