Harbourfest Starts Today In Kenora

It’s the day many across the region have been waiting for; Harbourfest starts tonight.

The annual music festival is taking place for the next three days under the Whitecap Pavilion.

Coleman Hell from Thunder Bay is one of the performers tonight and said it’s a thrill for him to play in Kenora.

“It’s like a half-homecoming,” said Coleman Hell, “my parents are coming to the show, (and) it’s going to feel good to be out in the bush a little bit…out in the wilderness away from the grey concrete landscape of Toronto.”

He told us that he’s enthused by the attention his music has garnered.

“It’s something that I always kind of dreamed of when I was a kid. The fact that it’s a reality now…I’m pretty grateful for all the reception all across Canada.”

Coleman Hell said that he is currently touring in advance of a new album.

“We’ve been playing shows all summer…we’re getting a new album ready that should be coming out in the late fall (and) we’re excited about that as well.”

Tomorrow and Sunday, there will be five hours of family fun from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm before the evening concerts.
