Provincial Funding For Van Horne Avenue Repairs

A major infrastructure commitment is being made by the provincial government for the City of Dryden.

Premier Doug Ford announced Wednesday $1.4-million dollars to fix Van Horne Avenue.

The money will be used to replace the asphalt surface and curbs as well as repair the sidewalks.

Ford stresses fixing the road is a matter of safety for drivers, especially when it comes to winter driving.

Kenora-Rainy River MPP and Cabinet Minister Greg Rickford says the upgrades and reconstruction will improve road safety and connect people with jobs, and businesses with customers.

He states the investment supports their plan to develop the economy of Northwestern Ontario.

Dryden Mayor Greg Wilson says they appreciate the support, stressing every cent and dollar will be put to good use.

He notes the government understands local needs and finds ways to come up with solutions to solve infrastructure problems.

The PC’s also announced $3.9-million for the full reconstruction of Railway Street and 10th Avenue South in Kenora.
