Girl Guides Activities Suspended – Including ‘Cookie Day’

Girl Guides of Canada have suspended all upcoming activities, including their ‘National Cookie Day’ scheduled for April 4th.

In an e-mail sent out to all Guide Units on Friday, Girl Guides CAO Jill Zelmanovits said:

“Out of an abundance of caution, we have made the decision to suspend all in-person Girl Guide activities until Tuesday, April 14, beginning immediately. This course of action was chosen to ensure the health and well-being of girls, adult members, volunteers and the greater community.”

As a result, there will be no unit meetings, sleepovers, camps, cookie selling, travel or any other in-person Girl Guide activities.

She concluded, “We know Guiding is a much-loved activity for many girls and we look forward to welcoming them back to their units once it is safe to do so.”
