Metis Council Pleased With Prime Ministers Meeting

The Vice-President of the Metis National Council says he’s satisfied with a federal commitment to support the Metis Nation and its communities in coping with with the Coronavirus emergency.

David Chartrand emerged from a teleconference with the Prime Minister in good spirits.

Chartrand says Justin Trudeau reassured him that $100-million for Indigenous peoples will be available to them and could be increased if needed.

He adds a guarantee was made to work with the Metis National Council on a comprehensive communication strategy emphasizing prevention measures.

Chartrand says he’s in sync with the Prime Minister’s message that we must all work in unity.
