Upcoming School Year Still Unclear

We should have a good idea what the new school year might look like in a couple of more weeks.

The province is supposed to decide how our schools are supposed to operate come September.

Sheri-Lynne Pharand is the Director of Education for the Keewatin-Patrica District School Board and says they have come up with three possibilities.

“We may need to be flexible throughout this year as the virus changes and as medical heath protocols change,” explains Pharand.

“And so we’re planning for all three models so that we’re ready for whatever the health requirements are.”

The board has a diagram on their website for a normal school year, a hybrid model with fewer students in the classroom or a distant learning model, like they used over the past few months.

All five school boards in northwestern Ontario have been working collaboratively on their back-to-school plans.
