2008 was another busy year for Dryden Police.
The annual report was presented to Council Monday night.
Officers logged a substantial amount of hours for a second consecutive year, with over 5,000 calls for service coming into the communication centre.
Chief Shayne MacKinnon says a total of 575-provincial offence notices were issued for traffic-related infractions.
Police responded to a total of 308-motor vehicle collisions last year, 11-involving wildlife and 8-resulting in injuries.
Officers laid 24-impaired driving charges, but were pleased to report there were no fatal collisions.
The Dryden Police Service responded to 82-domestic violence calls, 27-complaints of sexual assault and made major strides in keeping drugs off the street.
MacKinnon also took time to praise the Criminal Investigative Branch as well as civilian and uniformed officers.
He stressed City officers continue to be visible in the community, engaging in several events.
MacKinnon ended his presentation by remembering the memory of By-Law Officer Donald Lotze, Constable Dwain Shankorik, Constable Ted Grouette and Inspector Terry Spicer.
All 4 passed away in 2008.
MacKinnon says their names will be added to the memorial in front of the Chief John A. Riley Building.
