Do Not Plant Unsolicited Seeds

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is investigating after a number of residents reported receiving unsolicited packages of seeds.

A call to the CKDR Newsroom from a resident in Dinorwic claims they received a package of the seeds themselves.

The CFIA is urging recipients to not plant them as they could be invasive plants, or carry plant pests, which can be harmful when introduced into Canada.

They say these species can invade agricultural and natural areas, causing serious damage to our plant resources.

If you receive a package of seeds that you did not order, keep them with the packaging and contact your regional CFIA office immediately.

The number to contact the CFIA in Thunder Bay is 807-683-4376.
