New COVID Case In Region

For the second time in as many days, the Rainy River District is reporting a positive case of COVID-19.

The Northwestern Health Unit says follow up with the person involved and known contacts is underway and anyone identified will be notified directly.

The Health Unit minimizes the sharing of information about the exact location due to privacy reasons.

The other three active cases currently in the region are in the Sioux Lookout district.

There have been 136 cases since the pandemic started.

The news comes on a day Ontario recorded a record 2,275 cases.

However, Health Minister Christine Elliott says that they pulled data at a different time than it usually does, resulting in a one-day increase.
