Health Unit Working With Schools As Classes Reopen

The Northwestern Health Unit will be working with local school boards to ensure a safe return to the classroom.

Medical Officer of Health Dr. Kit Young Hoon says with COVID-19 rates on the rise locally it is important that staff and students are extra vigilant with public health measures.

She notes schools are generally a setting with relatively low transmission rates but stresses caution is still urged.

Dr. Kit Young Hoon says anyone who was ill over the holidays with COVID-like symptoms and didn’t get tested must self-isolate and get tested as soon as possible.

She says if you choose not to get tested you must self-isolate for ten days before returning to school.

Dr. Kit Young Hoon stresses self-isolation is important to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 to others.
