Three New COVID Cases Reported

The Northwestern Health Unit is reporting three new cases of COVID-19 Sunday.

Two are in the Rainy River District and one is in the Kenora area.

Follow up with the individuals involved and their contacts is underway and anyone identified will be notified directly.

There is some good news on the coronavirus front.

The health unit says outbreaks at Atikokan General Hospital Extended Care and Riverview Manor in Rainy River have been declared over.

However, they stress that COVID-19 remains a risk in all communities.

There are nine more COVID-19 cases in the Thunder Bay District, and two more people in the hospital with symptoms.

Two of the new infections are part of the Thunder Bay District Jail outbreak, and one is a staff member at the Southbridge Roseview long-term care facility.

Three others are from a First Nations community.

Ontario is confirming 3,422 new cases and 69 more deaths today.
