Local Sports For February 5th

Good weekends for the Dryden GM Ice Dogs and Kam River Fighting Walleye.

Both those teams recorded two wins and gave up just one goal in those games.

The Ice Dogs shutout the Thunder Bay North Stars Saturday night 4-0, following up on a 5-1 win Friday night.

Similarly the Walleye downed the Fort Frances Lakers 7-1 on Saturday and blanked the Lakers 4-0 Friday night.

The games between the Red Lake Miners and the Sioux Lookout Bombers were postponed.

The Miners were also supposed to play Kam River on Sunday, but that game was postponed as well.

Meanwhile, a tough road trip to western Manitoba road for the Kenora U18 AAA Thistles.

The Thistles were doubled up 6-3 on Sunday afternoon by the Parkland Rangers.

Brandon Gustafson had a pair of goals for the Thistles in a losing cause.

The Thistles also were dumped 6-1 on Saturday night by the Rangers.

Carson Maffey scored the lone goal for the Thistles.
