The Municipality of Sioux Lookout is updating its service delivery levels in the wake of the province of Ontario issuing an emergency brake in response to an alarming surge in COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations across the province.
Starting Saturday and lasting at least four weeks officials are informing residents of some changes to operations.
The following Municipal facilities will be closed to walk-in traffic:
-The Recreation Centre and Gymnasium – except for vaccination clinics
-The Municipal Office (phones and email will be monitored)
-The Public Works Garage (phones and email will be monitored)
-The Fire Hall (phones and email will be monitored)
-The Airport Administration Building (phones and email will be monitored)
The following Municipal facilities will remain open to the public:
-The Airport Terminal Building
-The Hidden Lake Landfill Site
-The Biidaaban and Sioux Mountain Children’s Centres
-Outdoor parks, greenspaces, and recreation facilities
Officials stress physical distancing and other public health measures must be observed.
With offices being closed, 2020 burning permits will remain valid until a 2021 permit can be purchased.

Payments can be made by cash or cheque and left in the drop-box at the Municipal Office.
Staff will continue to monitor phone lines and email, and will respond to inquiries and concerns from the public in a timely manner.
