Kenora-Rainy River MPP Greg Rickford denies he’s asking for the names of Manitoba residents wanting to access their Ontario cottages.
The claims began circulating on social media Sunday that Manitobans should email Rickford.
They indicated the MPP was collecting names to present to Premier Doug Ford in a bid to take a regional approach to COVID-19 restrictions.
A statement from Rickford’s office says people have been misinformed and the MPP has not made the request.
The Ontario-Manitoba boundary is currently closed to non-essential travel.
OPP officers have been on-site since last Monday to enforce the travel restriction by checking vehicles.
