Funding For Local Firefighter Training

Local fire departments are getting more money to enhance fire safety training.

The money comes from the provincial government and also supports safety inspection programs.

Kenora-Rainy River MPP Greg Rickford says COVID-19 hurt in-person training opportunities and this money will improve online educational instruction for firefighters.

The money can also be used to upgrade high-speed internet in order to complete the training.

The Dryden Fire Service is getting $6,500 while Machin and Ignace are both welcoming $4,800.
