Highway 17 Twinning On The Docket For This Year

The Ministry of Transportation has the first phase of twinning the Trans-Canada Highway east of the Ontario/Manitoba boundary set to begin this year.

The information is contained in an update on the Ontario Highways Program.

It says the Environment Assessment and planning are currently underway.

The project cost is anywhere from $40 to $100 million.

Initially, only nine kilometres of Highway 17 are set to be twinned and the completion date has been given as 2023-2024.

The Ministry also lists the realignment of Highway 673.

That’s the road to Shoal Lake #39, and the cost of the six kilometres realignment is pegged at anywhere from $15 to $50 million.

It’s also scheduled to be completed by 2023-2024.
