Finance Minister: Businesses Will Be Supported

Ontario’s Finance Minister vows the government will stand behind local businesses no matter what.

Peter Bethlenfalvy made the promise during a stop in Thunder Bay this week.

Many health experts are predicting a fourth COVID-19 wave is coming due to the Delta variant.

Bethlenfalvy says, “The amount of supports that we’ve given businesses, we’ve really handed out a lot of money to help bridge to this reopen economy. So we’re just going to continue down that path.”

However, he did not specify any future assistance for businesses if we see a serious fourth wave.

He says increased vaccination rates is the key to preventing future closures.

Bethlenfalvy also touted the pay increase for PSWs.

“The three dollar pay that has been extended has been very important and we’re looking at training, we’re looking at retention, we’re looking at a whole host of issues.”

Bethlenfalvy could not confirm whether the increase was permanent, despite claims from the Premier that it would be.
