Low Voter Turnout In Federal Election

There were a lot of people who just decided to skip the election.

Voter turnout nationally was less than 59%.

That is down almost eight per cent from 2019.

The numbers do not include mail-in ballots which are being counted Tuesday.

The voter turnout in the Kenora riding was lower than that, with 53.9% of registered voters turning out.

That’s the lowest since 2008.

Turnout in 2019 was almost 63%.

Just 147 out of the 150 polls are reporting so far.

A similar number in Thunder Bay-Rainy River where 59% of eligible voters cast ballots.
