24 Year Old Charged In Sandy Lake Man’s Death

The Ontario Provincial Police and the Nishnawbe Aski Nation Police Service are investigating the death of a 49 year old man from the Sandy Lake First Nation.

Police say they were contacted early Saturday morning about a man needing assistance outside a home in the community.

Officers discovered the body of the man in the ditch and Wilfred Fiddler was pronounced dead at the nursing station.

A 24 year old man has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault in the case.

He’s scheduled to appear in Kenora court today.

A post-mortem exam on Wilfred Fiddler will take place today at Lake of the Woods District Hospital.
