Highway 17 Twinning May Finally Become Reality

More than 12 years after it was first announced, the twinning of Highway 17 west of Kenora is expected to begin shortly.

Ontario Minister of Transportation Caroline Mulroney is scheduled to sign a couple of agreements Friday that will kick-start construction.

Both the federal and provincial government’s kicked in 50 million dollars for the project back in May of 2009.

The first phase would be from the Ontario/Manitoba boundary to the Shoal Lake #39 turn-off.
