The new owner of the Ear Falls Sawmill is making a significant investment to help support workers.
Interfor Corporation has announced $8.4 million is being made available across all Ontario and Quebec sites to support various health, safety and employee well-being projects.
The company will purchase new equipment and tools required to ensure a safe working environment and eliminate as much risk as possible.
In terms of employee well-being, Interfor is pledging to modernize its facilities and offices, including state-of-the-art operating rooms, renovated lunchrooms and washrooms, revamped offices and board rooms.
Eric Larouche is the senior vice-president, Operations for Eastern Canada and says, “Since the closing of the transaction, making official the transition of EACOM into Interfor on February 23, 2022, we asked ourselves how we would like to define our leadership and the kind of decisions we needed to make in order to tangibly make a difference and show our commitment to our employees in Quebec and Ontario. For us, it is more than a commitment. It’s our way of demonstrating meaningful support in accordance with our goals as a company.”
