Another call for an increase in the Northern Health Travel Grant.
The NDP’s Judith Monteith-Farrell says the program just isn’t keeping up with the cost of living.
She says, “The people that need to travel for medical care are struggling. Many of them are on disability. Especially when they have to pay up front, they have to wait for their reimbursement and then it doesn’t cover the costs.”
The MPP for Thunder Bay-Atikokan says with rising inflation costs and record high gasoline prices, the grant program has to keep pace.
