Trans-Canada 17 OPEN between Dryden and the MB Border

Numerous highways in the region remain closed as of 1:00 Thursday afternoon due to the weather and poor road conditions caused by a major spring blizzard.

However, Ontario511 now reports Highway 17 between Dryden and the Manitoba border is now open in both direction.

Highway 502 between Dryden and Fort Frances is reported to still be closed.

Other road closures of note:
-Ignace/Pickle Lake: Highway 599 between Highway 17 junction to the end of the highway


-Sioux Lookout: Highway 642 between Highway 599. Both Directions between HWY 516 (N) – HWY 72 (S) – KING ST (W) and SEC HWY 599. All lanes closed.

Highway 11 between Fort Frances and Shabaqua Corner has reopened.

Highway 1 into Winnipeg is listed as open, but most of the Trans-Canada in Manitoba is snow covered with blowing snow. West of Winnipeg, Manitoba 411 reports virtually all major highways including the Trans-Canada as being closed.

Snow is expected to continue across most of Northwestern Ontario until Friday.
