High Number Of People Not Buckling Up

Provincial Police stress not wearing a seatbelt continues to be a serious problem on our roads.

OPP are reporting a 611% increase in seatbelt-related charges in the area year over year.

Across Northwestern Ontario, 329 seatbelt-related charges were laid over the Easter long weekend compared to 37 in 2021.

Dryden was second in non-compliance with 37 charges.

Thunder Bay led the way with 129 charges.

There were 10 tickets handed out in relation to a child not being securely fastened inside the vehicle.

-Dryden: 37
-Rainy River: 27
-Kenora: 27
-Greenstone: 15
-Sioux Lookout: 10
-Marathon: 10
-Red Lake: 4
-Nipigon: 4
