New Affordable Seniors Complex Being Built In Dryden

Construction is in full swing on a new Senior Housing Complex on Arthur Street in Dryden.

The building will be behind the Homeward Bound facility (old Pinewood School).

The project is being led by the Kenora District Services Board.

Chair Barry Baltessen says, “We know that there is a wait list for Seniors housing in Dryden as well as many other communities. This is 41 units of affordable housing that is definitely needed in this community and we’re happy to be part of that.

Baltessen adds, “Partnership between both the provincial government and the City of Dryden has been excellent. This is the way projects should be developed and the involvement of Seniors and other folks in the development of this project.”

Kenora-Rainy River MPP Greg Rickford says the province is spending $1,680,111 to support the project.

The Minister of Northern Development says, “Seniors are builders of our community and they deserve an opportunity, not just to have affordable and accessible housing in their community, but also to have an opportunity to have family visits in here.”

Rickford adds, “I work closely with the Kenora District Services Board to ensure that their priorities are aligned with ours and this project made perfect sense.”

The KDSB says the complex will be completed during the summer of 2023.

The development includes an apartment for family members to utilize when visiting a family member who resides in the complex.

Marrbeck Construction and Keewatin-Aski Ltd are leading construction efforts.
