The District of Kenora Unincorporated Ratepayers Association, or DOKURA has a number of issues that it thinks candidates need to address during the provincial
election campaign.
Most have to do with affordability issues.
That includes to high cost of electricity, broadband service, health care and taxation policies.
DOKURA says rural residents have to pay more for electricity because of rural distribution rates and the fact that more people in the unincorporated areas heat with electricity.
The organization is also concerned about potential increases in property taxes in the unincorporated areas the could go up 50 to 70 per cent if reassessments are done next year.
The current rates are based on 2016 assessments.
There are eight people running in Kenora-Rainy River and five in Kiiwetinoong.
The election is on June 2.
