Drug Overdoses In Fort Frances

A regional opioid crisis continues to keep Provincial Police busy.

OPP in Fort Frances say they responded to numerous drug overdoses over a 24 hour period last week.

All individuals have recovered, but Police stress that there are serious risks to taking non-prescribed medication and illicit drugs.

OPP ask the public to call 911 immediately if you witness an overdose and to report any suspicious activity relating to illegal possession and trafficking of drugs.

You are asked to recognize the signs and symptoms of an overdose, including:

-difficulty walking, talking and staying awake
-blue lips or nails
-very small pupils
-cold and clammy skin
-dizziness and confusion
-extreme drowsiness
-choking, gurgling or snoring sounds
-slow, weak or no breathing
-inability to wake up, even when shaken or shouted at
