The Nuclear Waste Management Organization is continuing its summer learning tour on Canada’s plan to store used nuclear fuel.
The Mobile Learn More Centre will be at the Dryden Best Western from 11:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. today. (Thursday)
Manager of Transportation Engagement Caitlin Burley will be there to make three presentations on transportation plans and accident case studies.
Anyone from the public is encouraged to attend the sessions:
12:00: Collaborative Transportation Planning
2:00: Accident Case Studies
6:00: Collaborative Transportation Planning
Meantime, there will be an Open House at the Ignace Learn More Centre Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Experts will be on hand to give tours and answer questions about a deep geological repository, the site selection process, transportation, geoscience and the environment.
There will be a free barbecue at noon.
The Ignace area is one of two remaining the site selection process.
The NWMO is expected to select a site in 2023.
Officials stress Canada’s plan will only proceed in an area with informed and willing hosts, where the municipality, First Nation and Metis communities, and others in the area are working together to implement it.
