Norseman Festival Opens Today In Red Lake

Organizers of the Red Lake Norseman Festival believe this years event will be bigger and better.

A lot is planned for the next three days.

Duane Riddell is hoping to see people from across the region attend.

“Lots of accommodation in town including all the tourist camps in the region. Good to support our hotels and restaurants that suffer through the pandemic. There just starting to get back into business this year with our U.S. customers. It would be really good to come up and support them by staying in the hotels and helping the community.”

One of the highlights is the Commonwealth Air Museum vintage aircraft fly-by.

Riddell says “The Norseman Festival was traditionally an aviation festival. We still maintain an aviation component but we’re predominately a music festival now. We have a full line-up of entertainment for Friday night, all day Saturday t and then Sunday afternoon.”

Today is Country night, tomorrow is Rock and Roll/Classic Rock and Sunday is reserved for Children entertainers.

Riddell adds, “Red Lake has got a very healthy mining industry and they are supporting our festivals to make them come back in a positive way. They see the value for the community and the well-being of the community itself.”
