An interesting municipal election is shaping up in Ignace.
So far two people are in the running for mayor.
Incumbent Penny Lucas is being challenged by Bill Gascon.
There are four people in the running so far for municipal council as as Greg Waldock, Chantelle Tucker, John Taddeo and Al Zimmer have all filed nomination papers.
In Red Lake, only mayor Fred Mota has filed so far for the mayoralty, but five people are in the running for four council seats.
Tom Doherty, Dale Butterfield, Janet Hager, Jamie Kristoff, and Janisio Mamur are all in the council race.
In Dryden, no names have been submitted for any of the council positions.
Mayor Greg Wilson has already indicated he doesn’t plan to run again.
The deadline to file nomination papers is in one month, August 19th.
