Dryden OPP Holding Auxiliary Information Session Friday

Provincial Police in Dryden are hoping to strengthen their Auxiliary Constable program.

An information session for the public is being held Friday night at the Highway 17 Detachment starting at 6:00 pm.

Constable Tim Gadd calls the program a worthwhile experience.

“I was part of the program back in 2013. I was an Auxiliary Constable for three years. I learned a lot of new things and made a lot of good connections throughout the region which ultimately actually helped me when I applied to become a uniform member.”

Auxiliary volunteer members receive specialized training to assist front-line officers on patrol, at community events, crime prevention activities, and at times during emergency situations.

Gadd says the program was formed in 1960 and currently there are roughly 850 active members deployed in 50 units across Ontario.

Gadd is hoping to see several new faces at the information session so they can highlight what the program is all about.
