Sioux Lookout And Red Lake Post SIJHL Wins

The first ever meeting between the Dryden GM Ice Dogs and Sioux Lookout Bombers suggests a new rivalry is brewing.

The Bombers ended the Ice Dogs 8 game win streak with a 4-2 victory at the “Hangar” in a spirited affair Friday night.

Blake Burke broke a 2-2 tie with about 7 minutes remaining in the game to secure the win.

Nolan Palmer would ice things finding the back of the net only 23 seconds later.

Also recording goals for Sioux Lookout were Phil Parker and Lucas Trimarchi.

Scoring for Dryden GM were James Hooton and Ben Hackl.

It’s a quick turnaround for the Bombers as they head east Saturday to face the SIJHL leading Kam River Fighting Walleye.

Dryden GM regroups and will play the Charity Game against Domtar employees on Sunday at 1:00 pm.

Proceeds from the game go to Community Living Dryden/Sioux Lookout and admission to the game is only $5.

In the only other game in the SIJHL Friday, Red Lake outlasted the Wisconsin Lumberjacks 4-3 in Spooner.

Kyle Schechtel scored the winner with about 4 minutes to play in regulation after Wisconsin battled back from a 3-1 deficit.

Trever Stevenson scored his first goal, while Carter Albrecht and Jacob Lamoureux also found the back of the net for Red Lake.

Jack Osmand made 36 saves to pick up the win.

The rematch is Saturday night.
