The Municipality of Red Lake is receiving $369,550 from the province as the community continues to pursue a new Arena and Events Centre.
The money supports the technical drawings completed by an engineering firm.
Council has made it a priority to now pursue additional funding to begin construction as a site has already been selected.
The funding is part of a $4.9 million investment to support 24 tourism projects in Northern Ontario.
A majority are in the northeast.
However, $70,000 will go to Destination Northern Ontario to market seven communities including Kenora for francophone travel itineraries.
The money comes from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund.
Today at the Northern Ontario Tourism Summit, I was pleased to announce more than $4.9M through the @NOHFC to 24 tourism projects in Northern Ontario.
These investments will help northern tourism operations expand their offerings & create jobs. https://t.co/YIZyqhvzRk pic.twitter.com/NmbJAsAJV7
