Red Lake Receives Funding To Promote Tourism

The Municipality of Red Lake is receiving $369,550 from the province as the community continues to pursue a new Arena and Events Centre.

The money supports the technical drawings completed by an engineering firm.

Council has made it a priority to now pursue additional funding to begin construction as a site has already been selected.

The funding is part of a $4.9 million investment to support 24 tourism projects in Northern Ontario.

A majority are in the northeast.

However, $70,000 will go to Destination Northern Ontario to market seven communities including Kenora for francophone travel itineraries.

The money comes from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund.
