Sioux Lookout Emergency Shelter Open 24/7

The Sioux Lookout Emergency Shelter is now operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The change took effect on December 9 and will be in place for the winter months.

The space will provide a safe warming area for individuals needing protection from extreme cold weather.

Light meals will be provided to those at the shelter.

Nahnahda-Wee-ee-Waywin-Sioux Lookout Sexual Assault and Counselling Centre started operating the shelter on September 1 taking over from the Out of the Cold program.

It is an Indigenous-based organization operated under the First Step Women’s Shelter.
