3 people now confirmed dead in Pikangikum fire

It’s now been confirmed that three people have died in a fatal fire on the Pikangikum First Nation.

The bodies of two adults and one child have been recovered from the blaze that took place last Wednesday evening.

The Ontario Fire Marshall and the coroner started an on-site investigation last Friday.

At the community’s request the Independent First Nations Alliance is managing an Emergency Operations Centre.

They are working alongside provincial, federal and other First Nation agencies to provide support to the community.
