Leadership with Migisi Sahgaigan say the community has lost a role model following the passing of Chief Arnold Garner.
Born at the Dryden Hospital on January 17th, 1951, he was first elected to office in 1993 a role he continued to serve the role until he passed away Wednesday at the age of 72.
Back in 2004, he was also elected Grand Chief or Ogichidaa of Grand Council Treaty #3.
Another notable accomplishment for him was a cross country walk from Stanley Park, BC to Halifax, Nova Scotia in 1995 to raise awareness for mental health and addictions.
Ogichidaa was a role model that lived by the grandfather teachings and led his family and community with Wisdom, Love, Respect, Bravery, Honesty, Humility, and Truth. He was greatly admired and respected by many and will truly be missed as a leader, mentor, and friend. He will be remembered for his strong position on education, treaty rights, land preservation,
