Speeding continues to be one of the biggest concerns for the Ontario Provincial Police in northwestern Ontario.
Almost 400 speeding charges (397) were laid during a traffic enforcement campaign conducted during the August long weekend.
The campaign focused on impaired driving, distracted driving, aggressive driving and seatbelt compliance.
Eight motorists were nabbed for distracted driving, 15 for impaired driving, while people were cited for seatbelt infractions.
OPP reported only five collisions over the long weekend, a 64% drop from the number recorded during last year’s August long weekend.
Of the collisions this year, no one was killed.
