New funding for residential school survivors

The provincial government is making $7.1 million available under it’s Indian Residential School Community Engagement Fund.

This is a new fund and is for communities and organizations to support residential school survivors.

The money can be used for mental health and addiction supports, research, and public education.

Some of the other activities that can be funded are community engagement projects, staffing support, and commemoration initiatives.

Applications are now being accepted until September 5th through the Ontario government’s Transfer Payment Ontario website

Up to $150,000 is available for grants in the 2023/2024 fiscal year.

Funding is expected to be released in the fall.
