OPP locate and arrest erratic driver

The Kenora OPP say they have arrested one person following a police pursuit near the Manitoba border.

The Falcon Lake RCMP initially tried to stop a vehicle Saturday night around 7:00, but it refused pull over.

The Mounties say they gave up the chase due to safety concerns.

Later the OPP received information of a vehicle being driven erratically and the occupants were throwing beer cans out the window.

Police says they received information about a vehicle matching the description in the ditch near Royal Lake.

Passing motorist says the driver assaulted the passenger and fled into the bush.

The OPP’s Emergency Response Team and a K-9 unit managed to locate the suspect a short time later.

A 35 year old Kenora man faces impaired driving and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle charges.

He has been released from custody and will appear in Kenora Court on October 19th to face the charges.

A 90 day licence suspension was also issued.
