Coca Cola switching to 100% recycled plastic bottles

Coca Cola will be the first to sell sparkling beverages in 100% recycled plastic bottles in Canada.

The company says it means that no virgin PET plastic will be used for their sparkling 500mL bottles under normal circumstances going forward.

It excludes caps and labels.

Launching early in 2024, the move follows last year’s nationwide rollout of DASANI bottles made from 100% recycled plastic.

Coca Cola says the shift supports one of its goals to reduce the use of virgin plastic.

It’s projected to save 7.6 million pounds of new plastic in 2024 alone.
