The two Thunder Bay teams in the SIJHL now hold down the first two spots in the standings after the Kam River Fighting Walleye and the Thunder Bay North Stars won both of their games over the weekend.
The Walleye got by the Sioux Lookout Bombers in a pair of one goal victories.
On Saturday, Kam River got by the Bombers 5-4, and that followed up on a 4-3 win in a shootout Friday night.
The North Stars allowed just one goal against as they dumped the Kenora Islanders 5-0 and 6-2 on Saturday night and Sunday in games that were played in Vermilion Bay.
The Fighting Walleye now have 26 points, one up on the North Stars, who have 25. Kam River also has two games in hand having played only 15 games this season compared to 17 for Thunder Bay.
The Dryden GM Ice Dogs split their games against the Fort Frances Lakers losing 3-1 Friday night, but coming back for a 4-2 victory Saturday night.
The Ice Dogs sit in third with 23 points, one up on the Bombers at 22. Sioux Lookout has a game in hand on the Ice Dogs.
The Red Lake Miners and the Wisconsin Lumberjacks had the weekend off.
