New Indigenous cancer program introduced

A new program aims improve cancer survival rates for Indigenous people in northwestern Ontario.

North West Regional Cancer Program is working with Treaty #3 and the Kenora Chiefs Advisory on the initiative.

A new Regional Indigenous Cancer Lead position has been created to service the Treaty #3 Territory.

The job will be shared between two people and aims to improve cancer screening rates on First Nations.

The goal is to increase education, awareness and opportunities for cancer screening in the region.
