Ice warning after truck becomes submerged

Ontario Provincial Police are once again reminding residents to be cautious when on the ice.

This comes after a vehicle went through the ice on the Rainy River near the community of Rainy River Saturday.

Police were contacted at 2:19 p.m. when the ice around a truck, clearing a path to a fishing hut, collapsed.

According to officials the truck was fully submerged within a matter of minutes, thankfully the driver was uninjured.

Residents should check ice reports before heading out on lakes and rivers as a number of factors can impact ice conditions.
