The sawmill hasn’t even re-opened yet, but Unifor says it has a new six year deal in placefor Kenora Forest Products.
The union says the agreement calls for a three percent increase each year up to 2020.
The contract will kick in this fall, with the mill set to resume production early in 2015.
Local Union Representative Stephen Boon says a lot of work has gone into the agreement, now all they need is approval of a wood supply by the Ministry of Natural Resources.
The union says the deal will also allow Kenora Forest Products to go head with millions of dollars
of capital improvements to modernize the mill.
The agreement will cover over 100 workers once the sawmill is up and running again.
